The Lackley Chair
Upper left: White seat: muslin underupholstery, ready to be covered in the fabric of your choice.
Lower left :
Black seat: leather.
This Biedermeier-inspired style is simple and elegant, and looks as at home in a formal dining room or around a gaming table.
Designed and handcrafted by Mark, this chair is first and foremost extremely comfortable. The spindles are set in line with the curves of the mid and crest (top) rail, giving these chairs a plush feel. And the joinery is traditional mortise & tenon which makes for a very solid, sturdy chair. The chairs are lacquered, hand-rubbed, and waxed.
Professionally upholstered locally in Vermont, the seat is comprised of several layers for incredible comfort. The base is a webbing layer of polypropylene-encased rubber threads called "Elasbelt," which provides resilience and elasticity. This is the "gold standard" in upholstery, and is preferred over typical webbings such as jute, which sags over time, or straight polypropylene, which is too stiff. This layer is followed by three inches of foam, some Fiberfill, a layer of muslin, and finally, the soft leather cover. The result is elegance, durability and ultimate comfort.
Note: This chair is delivered in a plain muslin underupholstery. It can be upholstered in the fabric or leather of your choice for an extra charge.
